Sowerby Bridge Gives Thumbs Up To Bridging Businesses Event
March 8th 2011
The Bridging Businesses event on 1st March, which Liz devised as a work experience project for business studies students from Calderdale College, was a roaring success.
Here at DC, we feel that giving local students the opportunity to gain real life experience in the business world is of great importance. So Liz took the time out from the busy office to donate her knowledge and experience in helping the local students gain valuable insight and experience for their CVs.
There were 15 exhibitors in all and a very impressive 50 attendees, so there was plenty of opportunity for local businesses to network and generally get to know each other.
Barry Collins, the Cabinet member for Economy & Environment and Chris Sands from Totally Locally kindly gave their time on the night to give a short talk about the vibrant hub of activity that is Sowerby Bridge and why it’s such a fantastic place to run a business.
The Works on Hollins Mill Lane did a smashing job of hosting the do as well. There was much enthusiasm for more Bridging Businesses type events for Sowerby Bridge in the future, so we’ll take that as a big thumbs up from local businesses.
