DC Completes Next Step of Charity's Vision
January 12th 2010
Members of sight loss charity, Visionary – linking local sight loss charities, are now able to share information and experience in a log in area on its website thanks to the expertise of our technical Director Mark Lloyd.
Digital Consortium recently built the website, designed by local company Siskin Creative Design, which is accessible to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 Priority Level 3.
It has been developed to provide a link between 126 sight loss charities around the country and reach the 500,000 visually impaired people that regularly use the services of these member organisations.
The project was very exciting for Digital Consortium. The site has been built to be accessible to the majority of people with visual impairments, including those who also have hearing impairments, so it has been a valuable learning curve for us.
Many design and functional options were built into the site specifically with its target audience in mind, and the same approach has been taken with the new members’ area.
“The standard template is green and blue but high contrast black-on-yellow and white-on-black options are also available. Users also have the option to increase the text size from within the website itself.”
